Steps
- Take a recent photo (last 6 months) facing the camera against a plain white or light background, mouth closed, neutral expression.
- Choose it here. The 35 × 45 frame opens with bands for the top of your head and your chin.
- Fit your head between the bands, with the top of your shoulders visible, then confirm.
- Download the photo and upload it in your IRCC application.
Common mistakes
- Cropping so tightly that the shoulders disappear.
- Retouching or filters: IRCC forbids altered photos.
- Tinted glasses, or frames covering the eyes.
- Using a passport-photo size (50 × 70 mm) meant for other Canadian documents.
